At any given time, but especially during Black History Month, Nannie Helen Burroughs is written about in newspaper articles, magazines, books, etc. One February, Shantae Cole featured an article on NHBS in our Ward 7 & 8 community newspaper, East of the River.
Abstract: "...an outstanding educator, orator, writer, businesswoman, teacher, and highly respected black woman whose vision of a school for black girls brought about "The National Training School for Women and Girls." In 1964 the school's name changed to "Nannie Helen Burroughs School." "...it's present structure as an outstanding co-ed facility for students from pre-school to sixth grade. Its location is still atop the hill, "Holy Hill," on 50th street."
