               Dear Nannie Helen Burroughs School Parents,

               Thank you for considering Nannie Helen Burroughs School for your child’s education.  We consider it a privilege to offer a well-balanced Christian education that focuses on the development of your child’s mind and heart.  Our Christian teachers are committed to that goal through the application of spiritual truth in a learning environment.  For that reason, our teachers emphasize the importance of the individual and encourage your child to build on their strengths and to improve on their weaknesses.  All of this takes place in a safe and challenging learning environment with a commitment to encourage, engage, and direct their development intellectually, socially, physically, and spiritually.

               Enclosed you will find information about our school.  Please contact the school office for answers to your questions and concerns.  We would also welcome an opportunity to share our program with you personally and to take you on a tour of our campus.

Academic Course Study For Students in Grades 1 through 6

*     Bible – Daily study, weekly memorization, monthly chapel service

*     Art – stimulate students to achieve their artistic potential

*     Handwriting – Correct letter formation of manuscript and cursive

*     Language Arts – Grammar, spelling, dictation skills, sentence structure, vocabulary & diction

*     Math – Visual, auditory and kinesthetic approach to computations, concepts, problem solving, and reasoning

*     Music – promote spiritual growth through the study of liturgical music, perform in special events throughout the year

*     Physical education - appreciation of lifelong value of fitness

*     Computer – learn various applications and basic computer skills

*     ReadingOral, comprehension & analysis, literature

*     Science – Physical sciences, life sciences & earth sciences

*     Social studies – History, communities & geography

*     Writing – Expository, narratives, creative writing & Research

*     Spanish – Exposed to Spanish language and culture through interactive activities

                    Parents, please use the following checklists to ensure application packets are complete.  Applicants will not be considered for enrollment until all required documents are received by the school.  Print legibly, in black or blue ink.  Some documents are two sided; please make sure that both sides are completed in full.  If you have any questions, please call the school office.  Please keep this checklist for your records.

                  

                   Once your application is received in full, you and your student will be scheduled for an interview with the principal.  Upon acceptance to Nannie Helen Burroughs School, you will be notified and a tuition contract needs to be signed.
